Emirates doesn’t recruit like Virgin. BA doesn’t recruit like Qatar.

“I don’t know what they want” is the one of the most common frustrations I hear.

The real answer comes from thinking like an airline. But not just any airline — thinking like their airline.

Whilst Cabin Crew responsibilities are universal, airline personalities are anything but. Each one is chasing its own version of “perfect.” Their unique culture shapes not only how Recruiters assess you, but how the entire interview unfolds.

That’s why some carriers focus almost entirely on group discussions, whilst others weave singing and dancing into theirs. The tasks are never random — they’re intentional, and they tell you everything about who they’re looking for.

These are practical personality assessments, designed to see if you match that airline’s flair. They will teach you the job, but they can’t teach you alignment. It’s your job to show alignment and you do that by how you prepare.

Some airlines favour thoughtful introverts, others prefer gregarious extraverts. With one airline you can get away with wearing seven-inch heels, another you’d be better off wearing your old school uniform.

Once you figure out that vibe, you can tailor your entire strategy — from how you dress, to your photos, to the stories you tell.

One size does not fit all.

So if you ever hear “Airlines don’t hire introverts as cabin crew”, that’s nonsense and you’ve just heard an Old Wives myth of airline recruitment.
